Merry Christmas!
Who could imagine what Christmas would look like this year? I see fewer houses decorating outside and fewer decorations on the city streets. Let’s face it; these are challenging times. The new year is filled with uncertainty, and our expendable budget was far smaller this year than normal. All of this will further impact the economy and job security. Still, we must remember we are resilient people that rise to challenges and come out stronger.
Take some time this year to give thanks when you sit at your feast you will share and reflect on those who have nothing. I am sure we all know friends that have lost everything due to the impact of Covid-19. Did you consider including any of these in your family celebration or plan to take them a hot meal?
We must be mindful that when it comes to the big picture, it is not all about us but rather compassion for others. Think about how much food you will throw away from Christmas dinner. Then think about those who have nothing to eat that would be thankful for your crumbs.
Remember, Jesus said, ‘As you have done to the least of these, so have you done unto me.’
Merry Christmas,
Grandpa Gary
